While we designed HopeRacer chairs to be durable, that doesn't mean you should abuse it or neglect taking care of it. We've compiled a list of handy tips to help you clean and maintain your chair so that it stays looking good and working well.
1. General Care
a. Keep it clean
No one likes sitting on a dirty chair! Wipe down the leather portions of your chair with a damp cloth every now and then, especially if you've been sitting on it during a warm day.
b. Keep out of direct sunlight
Prolonged exposure to sunlight can damage PU leather and may cause it to crack eventually.
c. Don't abuse it
Even the toughest of chairs won't be able to stand up to rough usage. Prevent impacts and drops, and keep sharp objects away from your chair.
d. Follow the usage information
- Sit in the center of the chair, with your back to the backrest.
- Do not sit at the front edge of the chair.
- Do not stand on the chair.
- Do not use the chair with more than one person.
- Do not push the chair around when a person is sitting in it.
- Do not push down on the backrest when a person is reclined.
- Do not place all your weight on the backrest only.
- Do not place your hand or fingers near the recline mechanics.
e. Keep pets away
If your pet has sharp claws, we cannot ensure that even our PU leather will withstand a good clawing. We've heard stories of dogs chewing up the pillows as well-try not to let that happen!
f. Perspiration & Friction
Though water-resistant, prolonged exposure to moisture may still damage and cause the PU leather to lose its supple texture. And perspiration and the buildup of body oil will change the pH values of the coating. The mix will be a weakened top coating that is prone to peeling.Keeping your chair free from dirt, perspiration or oils goes a long way in prolonging your chair's lifespan — check out the Leather Care section below for more details!
2. Leather Care
Dampen a clean microfiber cloth with a little water. Or Wipe the surface gently with a non-abrasive sponge with a soap and warm water solution or a mild liquid detergent. Gently wipe the leather until clean. Leave the chair to air dry before using. Then, soiling will be removed, the surface stays smooth and the gloss is preserved. This will prevent stains and odours from seeping into the leather.
If using leather cleaner, spray a small amount onto the cloth. Some special PU leather conditioner helps maintain a layer of moisture on the leather so it will feel smooth, soft and pretty much like when you first got the chair. Once every 2 months is OK. This should not be done excessively!
Kindly note: DO NOT use solvents or abrasive kitchen cleaners.
3. Fabric Care
Our HopeRacer Fabric, like any other fabric, may become dirty over time. Loose particles and dirt can be simply vacuumed up, and any spills should be blotted up with a dry cloth or paper towel as soon as possible.
A commercial fabric cleaner may be used to clean dirty spots-just be sure to test it on a non-conspicuous part of your chair first.
4. Functional Parts
The moving and functional parts of the chair-such as the armrests, tilt mechanism and hydraulics-should not need much maintenance, as long as they are used in a non-abusive manner. If there are any issues with these parts of your chair, please don't hesitate to contact us! If your chair is still under warranty, we'll be able to assist you with replacement parts if needed.
5. Warranty Claim & Support
In the event that something goes wrong with your chair, please take photos or a short video of the issue, and send us an email to support@hoperacer.com
